Ok so my last post was quite a while ago and I must say a lot has happened since.
I have been in a very bad state, I've been stressed and depressed, which lead me to eat emotionally. I was so bad that I ended up reaching my highest weight yet 104 kilos.
I know I hate myself for allowing that to happen but finally today I have accepted it and decided to get back on that horse.
So getting on those scales this morning was a bit of a shocker in a good way so all last week I weighed 104 kilos, today I weighed in at 101.6 kg I have no idea what I have done.
Although last week I started a more physically demanding second job. I started to work with kindergarten students as a language developer so I teach them with games which makes me, run around more than usual so maybe that's it.
So now I find myself doing two jobs and a course, and at the beginning of next year I start a university course, so I'll be juggling a lot this year.
I have realized that I need a kick in the back side and work towards what I want otherwise I will never get there.
Going back to my fasting days I did in England they went really well but back home in Spain I can't seem to follow the diet as the Spanish eating times are so different, although I will start it again starting tomorrow morning don't leave for Monday what you can do in the morning!!
Let's get back to the beginning and motivate ourselves.

My New Lifestyle
I've always used the word DIET and I've done a lot of them, probably if you name it I've tried it I've seen family members and friends lose weight with all these different diet approaches and I've tried and I could lose some weight but I would put it all back without any difficulty. I spent a lifetime worried and watching carefully at what I eat and you end up depressed and fed up. As I said in my last post I only recently found out that my body is not helping me at all to lose weight.
The 5:2 lifestyle is a current view on eating. The idea is you have 5 feast days and 2 fast days, what does that mean? It means that for 5 days you have no restrictions on what and how much you eat but on the 2 fast days you can only consume 500 calories a day for women and 600 for men, as well as avoiding carbohydrates on those 2 fast days.
So now that I'm feeling better it's time to start a lifestyle, not a diet!!
What is my plan?
I am planning to do the 5:2 lifestyle. With some exercise.

Even on those 5 feast days I'm not going to feast as if I was a queen in the 1600s I'm just going to eat normally and from time to time enjoy things I've avoided for many years. Like a lovely pasta dish without feeling too guilty.
Those 2 fast days are intermittent so my chosen fast days are Mondays and Thursdays, even if my gran said they're not intermittent, they are.
There is a fast guide to this diet on youtube which explains it quite well in 6 minutes if you don't have the time to read the book, or want to start straight away.
I would also recommend watching the BBC Horizon documentary called "Eat, Fast and Live Longer".
My exercise mentality is almost nonexistent I enjoy sport but rarely do it so I've decided to at least go for long walks daily.
Water is very important and I should be drinking constantly, but I forget to take out my bottle of water or refill it so I forget. I'm going to try not to forget about my bottle of water and keep it near my side at all times.
Keep myself busy, work and update this blog and twitter as often as I can!
My Plan Summary:
- 2 FAST days: Monday and Thursday, with no carbs.
- 5 FEAST days: the rest of the week, normal diet.
- Walk every day.
- Water by my side at all times.
- Work, and keep myself busy.
My Medicine Bag
Ok so I'm 24 and with a daily intake of 5 tablets a day, increasing that number on different moments.
This year I was told by my doctor that I had hypothyroidism which is when the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone this can cause a number of symptoms such as tiredness, poor ability to tolerate cold and weight gain. Great no wonder losing weight has been difficult!! That's my first tablet right there Levothyroxine, a thyroid hormone.
Then my doctor said as I am OBESE that I was prone to get diabetes or any other weight related problem, even though he said I had a clean bill of health and was in fact healthier than him. I knew all the health difficulties obesity can cause but having a clean bill of health doesn't that mean I don't need tablets?? No, I was given Metformin, which is to prevent diabetes, I'm down for preventing.
For many years I have suffered from migraines I get one every one or two weeks which can last up to two days, I have really painful PMS. I also suffered from depression although I would have never admitted it until now. I've always had sleep problems, so insomnia. Ever since I was a child I would have back and neck aches which originated because of my sleepy eyelids, which were corrected but now they don't allow me to keep my eyes closed while I relax. I've always had a low self-esteem, I always overeat and crave carbs so much.
As I am very young neither my parents nor my doctor would believe or listen to me saying that I couldn't feel like this that I was too young for back aches, or feel tired because I can't sleep, so I kept quiet I did not say anything else and just kept my pain almost to myself for many years. This has been the way I acted for many years, put a smile on my face even though I felt like s**t, so I don't tell my family anything which has brought some fights between me and some family members but I put a brave face on smile and hug it out, so not many people know the real me.
A friend who is a doctor saw some of my problems and decided to ask me questions like if I have problems concentrating which I do, and linked them to what is called Serotonin Deficiency, he said that it was a deficiency of an amine neurotransmitter and that I should tell my doctor and try having some tablets called 5-Hydroxytryptophan ot 5-HTP for mates.
This was a month ago so I went and told my doctor (different from the first I mentioned) and she blew me off. I decided to research on my own and after some deliberation I bought my first packet of 5-HTP and found you can buy it without any problem even on the internet.
So when I bought them and arrived which is only 3 weeks ago I started having them, and already I feel so much better and haven't had a migraine at the moment, and I´m starting to feel full when I eat something I never felt so I don't finish everything that's on my plate. Woohoo!!
I'm so grateful to my friend for showing me what my doctors didn't.
I'm definitely changing doctors as soon as I come back from my holidays!!
